We learn about straight porn actors who are ''gay for play,'' because gay porn pays men better than straight porn, and we visit an adult video awards ceremony in Las Vegas. Actors discuss the difficulty of becoming and remaining aroused in front of the camera. The movie spends much of its time showing how gay porn stars prepare to go on a movie set. Instead of focusing on the history of the genre or studying its effects on people's lives, the movie is a shallow, titillating look at two gay porn film directors, Gino Colbert and Chi Chi LaRue, working with assorted actors. Ronnie Larsen's film ''Shooting Porn,'' a facetiously lighthearted tour of the gay pornography industry, is a hard-core skin flick posing as a documentary.
